FORMER BASS SURVEYORS RETURN T0 BURTON WITH OWN MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PLANS

Two former Bass Developments' surveyors have returned to Burton-on-Trent with plans to refurbish and convert Grade ll listed former maltings in Wetmore Road into offices/workshops for owner occupiers.
Cliff Dare and Iain Masters, directors of Odin Estates, their property company, together with joint venture partners Hillarys Developments, have acquired a three-acre site which includes a three-storey 81,000 sq ft building that, subject to planning, will be sensitively refurbished to provide much in demand 'own front door' business space while retaining the traditional character of the building.
The Maltings, as the project has been named, will offer units from 4,500 sq ft to 9,000 sq ft designed to appeal to local and regional companies seeking distinctive accommodation.
Adjoining the building, the developers are proposing a new 30,000 sq ft industrial development - The Malsters - which will provide small units from 2,000 sq ft to 3,500 sq ft that at present are in very short supply in the town.
"Burton offers a great opportunity to developers to undertake new commercial and industrial projects on former brewery sites, to boost the local economy and at the same time retain some of the town's cherished traditional character," said Cliff Dare. "We are delighted to return to Burton and play a part in its industrial regeneration."
It is hoped a start on the development will be made soon with units being available from the middle of the year. David Binks of North Rae Sanders, letting agents for The Maltings and The
Malsters, said: "Odin and Hillarys Developments are taking a bold approach and it demonstrates the confidence they have in the Burton area. There has been a limited development of small new industrial units for some time and the demand for them is strong. The units will be available to buy or lease."
Hilarys Developments were advised by Noel Roper of Fisher Hargreaves Proctor.
